CLEANING THE PRINTER - SOLVING PROBLEMS
|

If one of the following problems occurs,
clean the printer parts outlined below.

Cleaning
the paper feed rollers: |

Cleaning
the shuttle shaft: |
|
Wipe with
a soft cloth moistened with water.
Wipe again with a soft, dry cloth. |
|
If the shaft
becomes dirty, the printer will not function properly.
Wipe the shaft carefully with a soft cloth. |

Cleaning
the platen rubber and cutter base: |

Cleaning
the thermal heads: |

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
Caution
Be careful not
to damage the platen rubber.
Avoid wiping the platen rubber with alcohol or other
solvents. |

When the thermal
heads have cooled (at least 2 minutes after the printer
has been switched off) wipe the heater elements vertically
with a soft cloth.
If the thermal heads are particularly dirty, apply a small
amount of 90% isopropyl alcohol to the cloth. (NOTE: Never
touch the print heads directly with your hands.) |

Cleaning
the platen glass: |

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
If particularly dirty, use a soft cloth moistened with
water. Wipe again with a soft, dry cloth.

the document feed rollers/platen rollers/document eject

Wipe with a soft cloth
moistened with water. Wipe again with a soft, dry cloth. |

CautionAlways remove
the printer power plug from the wall socket before
cleaning the printer.
- Do not use organic solvents
such as benzene, alcohol, thinners or cleaners
in cleaning the printer.
- Do not use detergent in the
cleaning the thermal heads.
- Be careful not to scratch
the platen rubber as the quality of the print
may be affected.
- The scanner cover opens to
approximately a 70 degree angle. Do not attempt
to open the cover any further.
