We hope this web site will give you a sense of the excitement that pervades
the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. You'll find excellent facilities
here: state-of-the-art laboratories, extensive
instrumentation, a wonderful library,
and well-maintained teaching facilities, all housed in a seven-building complex
near Harvard Square in Cambridge.
The people
here are the feature we're most proud of. The community of faculty, post-docs,
graduate students, undergraduates, and staff make Harvard a terrific place to
learn, teach, and perform research in the chemical sciences. We have active
research programs in organic, physical,
inorganic, theoretical chemistry, and in chemical biology and chemical physics,
with particularly exciting work being done at the interfaces between research
areas. This site will introduce you to our faculty
and staff, our facilities, courses,
and our programs, with glimpses of some
of our most exciting new developments, including interdepartmental resources
such as the Institute of Chemistry and Cell Biology-Initiative for Chemical
Genetics (ICCB-ICG),
the FAS Center for Systems Biology (CSB)
and the Center for Nanoscale Systems (CNS).
You may also enjoy taking a look at our second new building in eight years,
the Naito Laboratory.
Enjoy your virtual tour, and we hope to see you in Cambridge!
